WILDTRUST is thrilled to announce that First Car Rental has joined the WILDTRUST partnership family by donating a brand-new 4x4 vehicle to support the organisation’s diverse operations across both the WILDLANDS and WILDOCEANS programmes.
Established in 1999, First Car Rental is a subsidiary of the Combined Motor Holdings (CMH) group and is now South Africa’s largest independent car rental company, offering a wide range of vehicles for both business and leisure.
This generous sponsorship perfectly reflects First Car Rental’s core ethos of “driving change”— on the road and in the world. Supporting WILDTRUST aligns seamlessly with this vision, as conservation lies at the heart of their values. Through this partnership, they share WILDTRUST’s commitment to “A Thriving and Resilient World” where people and nature flourish together.
In an official statement, Netty Motsamai, First Car Rental Marketing Coordinator, said:
“At First Car Rental, conservation is integral to our CSR strategy. We recognise that reliable transport is essential for conservation efforts, enabling organisations to reach remote areas and execute projects effectively. Beyond this partnership, we are committed to preserving South Africa’s natural heritage and supporting organisations that drive meaningful environmental change.”
First Car Rental has indicated that its support is open-ended, continuing to provide resources to WILDTRUST for as long as the organisation advances its environmental mission. The donated vehicle will play a key role in strengthening WILDTRUST’s fieldwork across all programmes.
“This new 4x4 will enable WILDTRUST teams to access restoration and conservation sites in remote parts of KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, transport vital equipment and supplies, and strengthen community conservation and development initiatives. These capabilities will greatly extend the reach and impact of WILDTRUST’s terrestrial and marine programmes.” WILDTRUST Fleet Manager, Kaveer Singh, commented.
Looking ahead, this partnership significantly enhances WILDTRUST’s capacity to fulfil its mission of protecting and restoring biodiversity on land and at sea—while empowering communities to thrive.
So, keep an eye out for the ‘Wheels that Work for the WILD’ vehicle next time you’re on the road! It proudly showcases the magnificent species we strive to protect across land and ocean. We Are The WILD, and having partners who share our passion makes every journey worthwhile as we continue safeguarding our communities, spaces, and species.
